Vermont Fairs and Festivals
Vermont Fairs and Festivals are great attractions to see wether you live
in Vermont or your just visiting for a while. A local fair will have agrictural shows and products,
fresh hot food, thrilling rides, and of course the fun of a midway. Vermont has a Fair season spanning from July to
October a long with a few other festivals outside the main timeframe. Bringing high quality fun for all ages with
exciting events for affordable costs.
With local farms being a major theme of the fairs in the area; the Vermont horse
races, tractor pulls, animal showings, and lumberjack contests are always a big hit. Farmers tout their
massive equipment to pull large weights across sandbars with tires spinning and smoke billowing.Large
disobedient steers pull their young owners around, and sheep beeing sheard, there is fun to be had at every corner.
Old fashioned wool spinning demonstrations and 500lb pumpkins are also unusual sights to be
seen. Looking at the young pigs huddled around there mother, and the wide varietys of ducks to chickens, you
get a taste of the farm everywhere you go in a Vermont fair.
From the ferris wheel to the mini rollor coaster, the Midway has the feel of a small
amusement park in a local town. Only one time a year does the fair come to a county so people travel from
all over to try the next new ride. Everything from the dunk tank to the three bottle stack
is something that gives you a chance to win a prize. From small teddy bears to even larger than
life animals all can be won if you have enough luck or cash to gain the skill. Trying to pop a balloon
with a dart or shoot out the center of a target are all classics in which all age ranges enjoy.
Piping hot melted cheese pizza a long with the smells of secret recipe fries fill the air as
you wander through the sites. Fresh caramel apples are made locally along with the maple cotton candy that melts in
your mouth are sweet treats to be had. There is continouly new food every year like fried maple bacon on a
stick, and the old favorites like fried blooming onions continue to be made. Pakistani, Italian and Mexican
cuisines all offer there own flavors while the BBQ pulled pork sandwiches remain a crowd pleasing favorite.
Sampling different types is the best way to get the full experience and remember to go with a large appetite.
There are normally many different types of entertainers that bring fun for all who watch and
be amazed. The bands are always a big hit, normally starting later in the day. The magicians are known to awe both
large and small crowds a like with dazzling tricks and comedy to make everyone laugh. Pony, dog, pig and even tiger
shows can be seen. With feats like backflips for dogs and a good old swimming pig races an amusment that all
tend to watch. There is plenty of strolling entertainers though. You can often find clowns, ventriloquists, and
more strolling through the vast majority of people. Balloon hats can be seen from a distance with young boys
carrying a balloon sword a popular site. All is normally free with admission and is not something to be missed!
Be sure that you experience one of these fairs in the 2011-2012 years as you will not be
dissapointed. Even when the weather doesnt cooperate it is a good time to visit when you don't have to weave the
